Kanjivaram

Kanjivaram is one of India’s most revered handloom weaving traditions, originating from the temple town of Kanchipuram in Tamil Nadu. Known for its unmatched craftsmanship, Kanjivaram weaving is defined by its use of pure mulberry silk, rich colors, and opulent zari made from silver and gold threads.

What sets Kanjivaram apart is its intricate technique — the body and border of the fabric are often woven separately and then skillfully joined, a hallmark of master artisans. Traditional motifs like peacocks, temples, checks, and floral vines are common, each woven with deep cultural significance.
